05 The alloys we use
The most versatile alloy for cleanroom furniture, where standard cleaning agents are used and there is no constant contact with chlorides. Excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and easy polishing.
A high-alloy austenitic grade with added molybdenum for the highest resistance to acids, chlorides and aggressive disinfectants; ideal for pharmaceutical and bioprocess lines and sterile packaging areas.
For drawers and inserts operating at extremely low temperatures (down to −80 °C). Low mass and excellent thermal conductivity prevent condensation and freezing of mechanisms.
06 Forming and joining technologies
Automated cuts with 0.01 mm precision and minimal thermal distortion, which shortens weld-polishing time.
Computer-controlled bending delivers outstanding repeatability and perfect angles in both series and one-off production.
Clean, non-porous welds that are then fully ground back, so there are no gaps on the surface where microorganisms could linger.
All joints are continuous; we use screws only when structural requirements leave no other option.
A fine, even matte texture that hides small scratches and is easy to keep clean.

Over the past two decades our polished stainless steel solutions have become an indispensable part of the most demanding cleanrooms in Slovenia and beyond. Specialised cabinets, work tables, trolleys and custom modular structures have for years served in sterile warehouses and laboratories, on the production lines of Lek and its parent corporation Novartis, and in the high-tech facilities of Sandoz.
The common denominator of all our references is a fast response and a comprehensive approach that includes 3D models, IQ/OQ documentation and sterile installation, after which we leave the space completely clean and ready for immediate use.
On every project we combined precise on-site measurements, advanced metalworking processes and full traceability of certified materials, so clients received equipment that immediately passes validation inspections to GMP and ISO 14644 standards.
For processes that require quiet, smooth movement between cleanrooms, we built a series of transport trolleys in 304 stainless steel with high load capacity and smooth-running castors.

AISI 304 is an excellent all-round choice, but in environments with chlorides and more aggressive cleaning agents AISI 316L is significantly more resistant to pitting corrosion thanks to its added molybdenum. For critical applications (e.g. frequent disinfection, VHP decontamination, salt spray) 316L is generally the safer choice; 304 is suitable where chlorides are low and conditions are stable.
Yes. Electropolishing is an electrochemical process that simultaneously smooths the micro-roughness (lowers Ra) and passivates the surface, removing free iron and increasing corrosion resistance. The result is a smooth, “non-stick” surface that is easier to clean and less prone to retaining biofilm or particles. The process and tests are covered by the ASTM B912 standard, and studies confirm a marked reduction in Ra after electropolishing 316L.
In hygienic design, Ra ≤ 0.8 µm is often used as a threshold, because this smoothness demonstrably aids cleanability and cleaning validation; even lower values (with electropolishing) make sterilisation easier still. In practice we aim for the smoothest yet functional surface for the given process.
Yes. Industry practice shows good VHP compatibility with 300-series stainless steel (304/316L) and with aluminium too, provided the processes and seal materials are correctly chosen. For repeated cycles 316L is generally more robust thanks to its better corrosion resistance.
Use non-corrosive, non-acidic and non-chloride detergents, rinse with plenty of clean water and, where needed, wipe dry with single-use cleanroom wipers. Avoid abrasives and prolonged contact with concentrated chlorides (e.g. hypochlorite), as these accelerate pitting corrosion, especially on 304. If you must use them, reduce the concentration and contact time and rinse thoroughly with water.
Yes. In cleanrooms, antistatic (ESD) castors reduce the build-up of static, thereby attracting fewer dust particles while protecting sensitive electronics from discharges. The right choice of castors enables smooth, quiet and low-particle movement of equipment.
Of course. When the facility's standards or validation prohibit drilling, we use special clamps and self-supporting structures that do not damage the room envelope. This is often required in GMP environments and validated zones and is included in our standard range of solutions.
Aluminium is a far better thermal conductor (≈205–235 W/mK) than stainless steel (≈15–25 W/mK), so cooling/ULT equipment often uses aluminium drawers, which conduct heat faster, are lighter and put less strain on mechanisms at low temperatures. For corrosion-critical zones, however, 316L stainless steel remains the most robust choice.
ISO 14644-1 defines the classification of air cleanliness by particle concentration (ISO 1–9). If you want to reliably achieve, say, ISO 7–8, the furniture must also be designed with no particle “traps”: fully welded joints, rounded edges, smooth surfaces, easy cleaning and minimal particle generation during movement (castors, seals).
Before manufacture we prepare 3D models (STEP) and technical drawings (PDF/DWG). On delivery you receive material certificates (batch traceability), a record of treatments (e.g. passivation to ASTM A967 or electropolishing to ASTM B912) and, where needed, support with IQ/OQ. The aim is for the equipment to pass internal and external audits without difficulty.
